How waterproof flooring will change your life

How much is your peace of mind worth to you? It doesn’t matter where you live; kids spill, pipes leak, and showers steam, but all worries are erased when you have a waterproof floor. Thanks to evolving technology, more and more innovative and highly designed products have come to market, including waterproof vinyl flooring and waterproof laminate flooring.

What does waterproof mean?

When a flooring completely repels water, it means that it's impervious to water, eliminating staining or any other damage. While something can be highly water-resistant, there’s always a possibility that water will seep through. The products are either constructed of watertight materials or in such a way that they become resistant to liquid. Waterproof vinyl is waterproof from top to bottom, meaning that you can spill or submerge. Water-repellent laminate flooring is waterproof from the top, meaning that spills won’t be absorbed and discolor.

What is an SPC or WPC floor?

These are two technologically advanced cores associated with luxury vinyl (LVF). While LVF is waterproof, these cores offer an even higher protection level, never peeling or rippling, no matter how much water there is or for how long. The only difference between an SPC (stone plastic composite) and WPC (wood plastic composite) floor is the feeling underfoot. While SPC is more firm and rigid, giving the real feel of a hard surface, WPC is resilient and warm.

Are waterproof floors stylish?

Yes, whether vinyl or laminate, they have a high-end look that makes them appropriate for installation in any room in the house. With both, images are taken with 3D photography, making them clear and accurate. Micro beveling and deep embossing add depth, dimension, and textured features. They are cut either in planks to mimic hardwood or square tile-sized pieces to echo stone or tile.

Both are low maintenance, requiring only a daily sweeping and periodic deeper cleaning with a damp mop and a manufacturer-approved cleaner. The installation technique can be a floating floor where the pieces click together to mat and then hover over the subfloor with no nails or glue needed. Subfloors need to be clean, dry, and level.
