Essential facts about carpet stretching

Essential facts about carpet stretching

Over time, your new carpet may look wrinkled or loose. This is caused by foot traffic and normal wear and tear.

It’s unsightly and poses a safety hazard. People can trip, slip and fall on a loose and wrinkled carpet.

Fact #1: It all begins with a good installation

Many say the installation is as necessary as the product. We agree.

When installed correctly, the need for stretching will be significantly reduced. However, keep in mind that preparation is vital.

Before the carpet installation, the room must be empty.

Our carpet store installer will place tack strips around the room's perimeter during the installation. The padding goes inside.

The rug is then stretched tightly and affixed to the strips. The installer uses a power stretcher and follows all guidelines stated in the manufacturer's warranty.

Fact #2: Most warranties have strict requirements on how it should be done

The warranty will be voided when the manufacturer's instructions aren't followed, and all protections are lost.

Fact #3: Power stretchers must be used

Power stretchers are long poles with tines at the head. As stated in the warranties, they must be used for large spaces.

This way, your carpet in Cape Coral, FL, will be smooth, tight, and wrinkle-free. Knee kickers should only be used in tiny spaces.

Fact #4: Stretching should be done only once

If the rug constantly becomes loose, it's probably time for a replacement.
