What flooring options can look like hardwood?

Wood flooring is one of the hottest trends right now, and that’s expected to last for at least 15 years, but sometimes it just isn’t possible to install genuine wood. Wood-look products are terrific alternatives: beautiful, realistic, and durable, and there are many options from which you can choose. Here, Floor-Mart tells you about three popular wood-look products.

Sometimes they're even totally waterproof

Vinyl plank flooring is a form of luxury vinyl. This true-to-life echo of genuine wood is also 100% waterproof, so go ahead and install it in your bath! The planks are made by cutting the vinyl images into strips and mounting them on boards to mimic hardwood; the hardwood board lookalikes come with knots, grains, and textures.

Wood-look laminate flooring is has a firm, rigid, authentic hardwood feeling underfoot. It is highly water-resistant, with an even newer version that makes it waterproof. It’s not unusual for us to be asked whether luxury vinyl or laminate is better, but that decision always comes down to your personal preference.

Inkjet technology: Making intricate designs possible

Wood-look tile is amazingly realistic, with planks in light, dark, medium, and high variation colors. These patterns are possible because of a technologically advanced process called InkJet Technology. Until recently, designs were painted by hand, a painstakingly long and not very accurate procedure. This technology, much like a computer printer, has several jets that spew different colors, all at the same time, making intricate designs possible.
